finishing a task vs. archiving it
By admin
I’m pretty sure you have already noticed the new mark in front of a task, and also that the “done” tab has become “archive”.
The reason for that is that we had quite a few voices raising an issue on the “collect confidence level”. The reasoning here was “if whenever I finish a task you are forcing me to take it out of the current screen and move it outside, I am always feeling unsure on whether I have really collected everything on the current project. I would feel much better if I would have a way to just mark a task as finished, but still keep it in the current list / screen. This way, I could always have under my attention what had been done and what left to be done. This way, I would be always confident that nothing has been left out.”
The check mark is our answer to that. Whenever you finish a task, you still have the option to move it out of your current view if you feel like (just press the archive button), or just make it as done and archive it later. Whenever you archive a task, it is automatically marked as “finished”.
What is left to be done :
1. choose a smarter icon for the archive icon (the current one looks too much as “delete”)
2. add a new option to “reactivate” a task in the “archive” screen. This option will move the task back to the “tasks” screen.
3. add a way to customize the “auto-archive when finished” behavior. If you choose so, whenever you mark a task as finished, it is automatically archived.
4. add a “delete task” feature. Sometime, you really want to trash a task forever, not just archive it.
Mehdi, many thanks for pointing these out.
